Measurement and Verification (M&V)

Measurement and Verification (M&V) is a scientific process for quantifying impacts from resource efficiency projects, namely; energy, water and carbon emissions. It is an integral part of any project reporting cycle and it is codified in the IPMVP guideline, and internationally recognised standards SANS 50010 and ISO 50010. In South Africa, M&V is required for the Section 12L energy efficiency tax incentive and we have implemented M&V across varying industrial sectors. Oelinga is a SANAS accredited M&V inspection body (EEMV0019) under international standard ISO 17020 and SANS 50010.

ESG Assurance

ESG reporting has faced criticism for being used as a tool for “greenwashing” by some companies. At Oelinga, we mitigate this risk by applying the rigorous science of Measurement and Verification (M&V) to our ESG consulting services. Our M&V methodologies are implemented by Certified Measurement and Verification Professionals (CMVP®) and Certified Energy Managers (CEM®), ensuring the highest level of accuracy and transparency in our reportingLearn More about ESG Assurance

02

Performance Contracts

Resource efficiency project sponsors and owners who enter into performance based contracts with Energy Services Companies (EsCos) run the risk of project under performance and over paying the EsCos. M&V provides independent assurance by developing proper baselines for measuring energy or water savings, and ensuring accuracy and transparency in these contracts.

Savings Quantification

M&V plays a critical role in accurately quantifying the energy savings achieved through energy efficiency projects, as well as water savings from water conservation initiatives and reductions in carbon emissions. We also utilize M&V methodologies to evaluate the efficiency improvements of industrial processes and equipment.

04

Resource Management

Part of the energy and water management process for energy managers and facility managers is developing a baseline to which to work toward and performance assessments quantifying the savings. M&V exists for this very purpose and we have the professionals and technology to assist you.
