Tax Incentives and Grants Related To Energy In South Africa

Updated: Jun 23, 2019

In South Africa, government provides multiple tax incentives and grants that can be leveraged to support investment in energy efficiency, renewable energy and infrastructure. These incentives vary in their reward and in their qualifying requirements. The Section 12L is strictly for energy efficiency, the Section 12I is an investment allowance for the manufacturing sectors, the Section 12B is for renewable energy and the Critical Infrastructure Program supports investments into infrastructure that leverage further investments.
